On 21 September 2017, UNPA issued six stamps and three souvenir sheets on the theme “International Day of Peace”. Each year on 21 September the International Day of Peace is observed around the world. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, within and among all nations and peoples. The Day’s theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All”.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres had the following to say about this year’s International Day of Peace: “In times of insecurity, communities that look different become convenient scapegoats. We must resist cynical efforts to divide communities and portray neighbours as ‘the other’. Discrimination diminishes us all. It prevents people — and societies — from achieving their full potential.” He adds, “Together, let us stand up against bigotry and for human rights. Together, let us build bridges. Together, let us transform fear into hope.”
Stranger & Stranger, a packaging design and branding company, designed these amazing stamps. Just sit back and enjoy this wonderful artwork and art direction.
